Happy New Year TBS! (September KOL)

Dear TBS Family,

What a year this has been and continues to be!  How blessed we are to have Rabbi Widzer at TBS to help our congregation welcome 5781.  There has never been a High Holy Days like this one in the history of the Jewish people.  The rabbis of old could never have imagined having to do services “online.”  I am so proud of all of my colleagues around the world – rabbis and cantors, educators and administrators who have taken up the challenge of what it means to be a synagogue community during this pandemic.

I am so thankful that Rabbi Widzer is with you now, providing wonderful online services and teaching to help our TBS community stay spiritually connected, even as we have to be physically distant.  Wherever we pray this Rosh Hashanah, we are all part of a new experiment in Jewish survival.  How exciting for all of us.  We are all proof that our people thrives through good times and challenging times.

Gary and I are sending you our love and prayers for a healthy and happy New Year.    We send our welcome to Rabbi Widzer and his family, and to all the TBS families –  especially our new members.  TBS is the most special place in the world.  Please take care of your new rabbi and help him through these challenging times by showing him what a resilient and loving congregation we are and continue to be.

We wish you a Shanah Tovah from our hearts to yours.  May 5781 be a year of health and hope for you and for our world.

Fondly,

Rabbi Perlin
