Grief Support
Each year before High Holy Days, TBS runs a four week Grief Support group for Jewish and non-Jewish members of our Temple B’nai Shalom family who have lost immediate loved ones (parent, sibling, child or spouse) in the past Jewish year, since last Rosh Hashanah. We begin before the High Holy Days to help people prepare to say their first Yizkor for a loved one at Yom Kippur. The purpose of the group is to enable members to share and work through the grief process Jewishly and to create a community of caring within the group, and by doing so to feel that B’nai Shalom is a place of comfort at a difficult time.
The men and women who have participated in previous support groups have found them to be extremely helpful and healing. This is not a group for spouses/children/friends of those who have lost parents, spouses, or siblings, just for the immediate mourners. Participation in the group requires a commitment to be able to attend all four sessions.
